Only nine percent of the employees surveyed had received their last salary increase because of goals they had achieved. Taking on additional tasks was also the decisive factor for just six percent, it says.
In fact, employees can also score points through their personality. This is at least as important as professional qualifications and experience. Some character traits are even generally regarded as career killers. The career portal CareerBuilder conducted a survey on this topic some time ago.
Careerbuilder surveyed 3,000 employees and 2,000 hiring managers and came up with ten behaviors that are perceived as toxic in the work environment – and can cost professionals a promotion if nothing else.

The whiner: The whiner is at the top of the list. Who constantly only jammert that for example a customer’s nerves or that the table is once again full of tasks, throws no good light on itself. This does not mean that an employee always has to put on a good face, but that constant negativity in particular tends to be perceived as a burden. Better: love it, change it or leave it!
The pouty one: People who are constantly pouting are just as negative. For example, when an idea of theirs has not made it into implementation.
